Packet Pick-up/Registration:

Online registration for both the timed and non-timed 5k events will be available online thru midnight on Tuesday, October 6. Pre-registration packet pick-up and Late Registration for all events will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 8 and October 9 from 12:00PM to 7:00PM at the Reston Town Center Potomac River Running Company location. Please see address below. Day-of-race registration will be held from 6:00AM to 8:30AM at The Reston Town Center. Additional race shirts will be available for purchase for $15 on race day.

Runner’s Bib:

Timed 5k runners will receive a race bib with the state-of-the-art Chrono D-tag attached to it. The D tag must be removed and carefully looped (not bent) through the shoelaces as the instructions at packet pick-up will indicate. All participants will be given an official race bib which must be worn on the front of the body during the race. Race numbers and particularly chip D-tags are non-transferable!

Special Qualifying Opportunity for the CareFirst National Half Marathon:

The Anthem Great Pumpkin 5k is an official qualifier for the CareFirst National Half Marathon taking place on March 20^th, 2010 in Washington, D.C. All runners in the 5k will have a special opportunity for an additional qualifying minute. This means that instead of completing the 5k in 31 minutes (the normal official qualifying time) you will be able to finish at 32 minutes and STILL be able to qualify for the CareFirst National Half Marathon.

In order to qualify you must be able to complete the entire 5k in 32 minutes on chip time.

Restrooms:

Portable restrooms will be located adjacent to the start line.

Water:

It is imperative that runners drink plenty of water prior to, during, and after the race. Water will be available prior to the race at the start line. The water station on the route is located on Sunset Hills – approximately two hundred yards after the turn from Reston Parkway.

Parking:

The Reston Town Center provides ample parking, with over 7,000 spaces, which are available in six garages and one surface lot.

The Start Line:

The start line is located at the intersection of Fountain Drive and New Dominion Parkway. Please be in the starting area no later than 8:45AM and seed yourself based on your anticipated speed – timed runners to the front, followed by non-timed and walkers based on speed.

Finish Line:

The 5k finish line will end adjacent to the Reston Town Center fountain and pavilion.

Changing Events:

The changing of events between the timed and non-timed will not be allowed.

Medical:

Your safety is our main priority! Please run safely and smartly. If you begin to feel ill while on the course – STOP – and look for your closest course marshal.

Refunds:

There will be no refunds allowed.

Strollers:

For the safety of the event and its participants, strollers will not be permitted on the race course.

Timing and Finishing:

Results will be posted Saturday, October 10^th by 6:00PM.

Awards Ceremony:

The awards ceremony will take place from 10:45AM to 11:15AM at The Reston Town Center pavilion. You must be present to receive your award!
